DANCE OF AWARENESS

Dance of Awareness allows what is unconscious to become conscious, to take shape, to move, and to transform.

It’s a creative approach to self-understanding, a moving meditation practice, a body-mind workout, an opportunity to express yourself and experience a sense of profound connection.

DoA uses breath and body awareness to deepen the inward connection with our own core. And we use body shapes and movement to express ourselves, moving outwards into the world and into contact with others. There are no steps to learn, and no way of getting it wrong. All you need is the willingness to tune in to your own body and respond to your own internal impulses.

Where does DoA come from?

Dance of Awareness has four main roots:

· the exploration of awareness, which lies at the heart both of ancient spiritual traditions and modern neuroscience;

· authentic movement, where inner impulses are given shape and allowed to move to completion;

· the ecstatic dance tradition in which we transcend our limitations, as the dancer and the dance become one;

· bodywork and breath techniques which release old patterns held in the body-mind and create a deeper sense of self-acceptance.

At its most simple, a Dance of Awareness session is fun, invigorating and revitalising. Many people use this sort of dancework as part of their regular spiritual practice or personal growth path.

DoA can also help us to look more deeply at our life issues, by increasing awareness of our body-mind connections, and giving shape to our next steps.

WEDNESDAY WAVE - BRIGHTON

The Wednesday Wave is a dance event that has been happening in Brighton for over 15 years. Initially a peer group for Five Rhythms, it has developed into a community of people who meet to dance with awareness through an energetic wave. It is for all lovers of free dance and moving meditation.

If music and movement is part of your spiritual practice or personal path, join us for an evening of conscious dance. A chance to flow with your own dance, explore your bodymind, express yourself, and share the energy with friends and wavers. Just turn up.

This is no longer a 5 Rhythms event - we use the Bioenergetic Wave (sensing, grounding, expressing, releasing, connecting and completing) as the basis for movement. However, if you're familiar with 5 rhythms, you'll still feel at home !

Wednesday Wave happens at the City Gate Centre, 84 London Rd, Brighton. 7.45 - 9.45pm, £5.
