Wednesday Wave
For all lovers of free dance and moving meditation. The Wednesday Wave is a dance event that has been happening in Brighton for over 15 years. Originally a peer group for Five Rhythms, it has developed into a community of people who meet to dance with awareness through an energetic wave. There’s no teaching, you are free to move in the way that feel right for you, or just witness the other movers.
This is no longer a 5 Rhythms event - we use the Dance of
Awareness cycle (sensing, grounding, expressing, releasing, connecting and completing) as the basis for movement. However, if you're familiar with 5 Rhythms, you'll still feel at home !
Wednesday Wave is a drop-in group, happening every week at the City Gate Centre, 84 London Rd, Brighton (above Blockbuster Video). 7.45 - 9.45pm, £6.
Thursdays: Dancing Deeper Group
Dancing Deeper uses the Dance of Awareness energetic cycle to take you through a wave of music that will help you to deepen inner awareness, release body-held energy, express yourself, and connect with others. This is a led group – compared to the Wednesday Wave there is more emphasis on sharing, contact, moving together and supporting each other, as you dance your own dance, whatever that may be.
Dancing Deeper is a drop-in group, but we encourage people to commit to coming as regularly as they can. This gives us the feel of a closed group with a core of participants, whilst giving flexibility around dates.
8.00-10.00pm every Thursday at Hove Methodist Church Hall, St Patricks Road (off Portland Road). £8 - or £35 if you pay for 5 (not necessarily consecutive) evenings.
Mondays: Authentic Movement 10-week class
An opportunity to discover the principles and practice of Authentic Movement.
Meeting together as movers and witnesses, we will explore sensation, feeling, emotion, images, and the interplay between movement and consciousness. This work weaves together meditation, movement discipline and personal growth in a way that is hard to describe, but extraordinary to experience. The rituals and forms include moving in dyads, triads, and larger circles, and the use of talking, artwork, writing and reflection to process what emerges. Your body is a deep reservoir of unconscious material; Authentic Movement provides the space for it to surface, take form, and be witnessed in a healing circle.
Starts: Monday 12th January 2009, 2-4pm. Brighton Natural Health Centre.
Free introductory session: Monday December 8th 2-4pm - just turn up.
£75 / £65 concs. To book, contact BNHC 01273 600010, Email: info@bnhc.co.uk, or book online at www.bnhc.co.uk
